BIG ROAR – NOVEMBER 2009
Halloween
is now a memory. Day Light
Savings time has ended and we are preparing for another holiday season.
Your Cub Reporter is thankful for her family and her friends
especially her Lions Club Friends. It
is an honor and a privilege to be a member of such a great group of folks.
Every year members give so much money, time and talent to see that
those less fortunate have an opportunity to lead a better life.
Student of the month awards and scholarships, sight and hearing
efforts by purchasing glasses and hearing aides for those who would be
unable to obtain these vital aides without the help of the Lions Club.
We sponsored the Sight and Hearing Van out of Portland for a day of
screening in conjunction with the Kids Wellness Fair Christmas baskets and
Turkeys at Thanksgiving. On top
of that we sponsor flags for first graders and a Peace Poster Contest all to
help our children develop an appreciation for our great Nation.
The Peace Poster Contest is in full swing.
A big Lions Roar for Lion Barbara who has managed this program single
handedly and done a great job. Some
of the posters were up for viewing at out October 27
meeting and there were some amazing pieces of art.
The “Student of the Month” for October was Lauren Klissbe .
She plans to attend the Air Force Academy.
With a 4.2 GPA
she should have no trouble achieving her goals.
Last
year we collected over 40 Turkeys plus a couple of Hams.
They all went to the Salvation Army to assure that those less
fortunate have a great thanks Giving Dinner.
Here is hoping we can duplicate that effort this year
Lion
Colin is looking for bell ringers to help the Salvation Army.
If you have a few hours to give to this worthwhile project please
contact Lion Colin he would appreciate the help
Lions
Barbara and Frances are organizing a theater night for “Guys and
Dolls” in February so prepare to come and bring some friends.
Lets fill that theater and plan on having a great time.
Lion
Chuck is organizing the “Flags for First Graders”.
This is a great project and a lot of fun.
If you can spare a few hours come prepared for a good time.
The
club is still collecting returnable cans and bottles to help the RSVP
program to help kids. Bring
the cans the first Tuesday of the month.
Lion
John is running the mints program and could use a little more help.
If you can spare an hour or two a
month to collect mint money and replenish the supply of mints please
speak to Lion John.
Don’t
forget the Silver Dollar raffle 82 Silver Dollars and one Gold plated
dollar. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.

are soon feeling better and ready to enjoy a great holiday season. Let them
know they are not forgotten card or phone call will go along way towards
making there days a little brighter.

A big LIONS ROAR
The
Christmas Party Date is Sunday December 20.
The party will be at the Brewery.
The fun starts at 6PM and dinner is at 7.
This party is always a lot of fun plus the money raised helps a
family working through tough times. There
is also a Chinese gift exchange. Please
keep the cost of a gift under $20.00. Don’t miss it. Plan to have a good
time.
Your cub reporter is wishing each and
everyone of you a great Thanksgiving .
